Maine

Right after the party we jumped in the van and drove up to Maine. It's the weirdest thing to me that here on the East coast you can leave the South shore of Massachusetts, drive along the coast on New Hampshire and halfway up the coast of Maine to stay in Portland (which is where we went) all in like 2 hours. My thinking is distorted from living on the West coast where it takes a good 7 hrs to drive across one state.

Maine is absolutely stunning. We went to Two Light Lobster Shack which is right on the ocean and had climbing all over the petrified wood to get down to the water.
Little Miss Khloe took a liking to my dad that made the rest of us jealous. She literally wanted nothing to with anyone but him. Not even her Mommy! If someone else was holding her and he came into the room she would do her little fake-y whine and reach for him. She couldn't settle down till he had her. The two of them trekked all over the place together.
And because it's Maine with a gorgeous, but deadly, rocky coastline there are lighthouses everywhere! From the Lobster Shack we could see two.
The next day we went to see another. (They had swings and fort there too.)
Of course we had so much fun and Maine is so beautiful we can't wait to go back and see more.

The Big ONE

My baby turned one.

My parents' anniversary is the same day as Khloe's birthday. They flew out with Ethan the day before to share in this big event of turning one. She opened family presents on the special day. From Mommy and Daddy, a water table for the deck. From Pappy and Granny, a barn.
From Mona and Papa, a Cabbage Patch baby which turned out to have blonde hair and blue eyes matching Khloe's.
Khloe sports her new sun hat and sunglasses.

Khloe's friend Piper also happens to have been born on the same day. Incredible coincidence! Of course we had to have a joint party especially in lieu of the coincidence. Having two moms who both love to create work on a party together was fun! (I totally live for stuff like this-it is SO fun to me) And we were able to pull together an amazing party.
Kristen, Piper's uber talented mommy (for some proof see Etsy) is also an amazing photographer. Hence I am now sending you to her blog to check out more (AMAZING) photos.

McDonalds McNuggets & Fries (yum)

One day, while driving with Soph, Pipey & Kristen, we went to our favorite (well one of our favorite...) places-McDonalds! While Sophie was eating her nuggets I looked back and saw that she had generously shared one of her nuggets with Khloe. Most surprising was that Khloe used her two little chipmunk teeth to gnaw it down. So now, on occassion, we let her eat some fries and nuggets. We recently discovered she also loves to dip her fries in ketchup.

Cape Cod

Finally Wes finished his last test. Now he's on to his 6-week internship, but (hooray!) before it started we had some days with him all to ourselves. We took advantage of this opportunity and headed down to Cape Cod for the day.

First we stopped in Chatham. It is the most ridiculously quaint town I have ever been in. We loved it! We checked out this adorable toy store, bought some over priced (but still yummy!)
candy and headed down to the marina. There we found a delicious fish market where we shared some fish & chips.
Then we headed on to Eastham. Nauset Light is a beautiful beach there and Khloe got her first experience in the sand and water. After a while we brought out the paper bags of candy. It didn't take Khloe long to figure out what was inside the bags. The rest of the day she was digging in the diaper bag trying to get to the candy before we stopped her. The next day I snuck a left-over piece and as soon as she heard the crinkle she dropped everything and came crawlin.
